This is my take on, at time of writing, this unreleased John Lennon demo from the late ‘70s. I first heard this song idea about a quarter of a century ago on a bootleg cassette a friend had brought back from Japan. Seven minutes of solo Lennon at the piano just finding his way with a new idea that had come to him. It stuck with me and it was this demo sketch that I used to reference and inform the basis of my take here. My interpretation is considerably faster than the original though with full instrumentation to make it sound like a band plus I’ve structured and arranged it differently whilst still trying to stay true to and retain the feel and vibe of the original. I’d like to think that John would approve of what I’ve done with this!

I recently learnt that it is rumoured that ‘The Two-tles’ (ie: the remaining members of The Beatles’) might be releasing a version of this song at some point down the line. If this be the case, it will be interesting to hear if Macca & Ringo’s reimagining sounds anything like how I’ve interpreted it. Time will tell! In the meantime, here’s my take on it … 🎼🎱😎👉
